Industry 4.0 takes another step forward: Compact controller for industrial Ethernet developed successfully

Recently, maxon developed the EPOS4 Compact positioning controller, ready for industrial Ethernet connection.

The successfully developed EPOS4 Compact series can be integrated into deterministic industrial Ethernet (CAT), creating new opportunities for various applications.
Ethernet-based automation technology is an open architecture, an Ethernet-based fieldbus system, aiming to utilize Ethernet in automation applications.
Currently, this controller uses additional programming languages: The new deterministic industrial Ethernet model complies with the CoE standard and can be easily integrated into existing deterministic industrial Ethernet networks. The new intelligent motion controller with real-time communication capabilities offers a simple and convenient way to control brushed DC and brushless EC motors with peak currents up to 30A. Its modular design saves considerable space, making it particularly suitable for single-axis or multi-axis systems in small devices and machines, as well as robotics. The saved space can be used for other functional designs, improving machine performance. It can also be used in the miniaturization of robots and industrial equipment, adding value to the development of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
maxon also provides customers with a wide range of accessories to simplify the connection and integration process. In addition to the intuitive "EPOS Studio" software, the controller also offers free Windows DLL and Linux shared object libraries for integration into various host systems.
The space-saving compact positioning design of the EPOS4 controller has gained many admirers in the world of local area network control. The versatile EtherCAT controller is now available in two power versions: 50V/8A and 50V/15A. Other models in the compact series will be launched by the end of 2018.
