Crystallizer protective slag is widely used. A large amount of slag needs to be processed during casting, and a large amount of protective slag needs to be added during the casting process. Today, let's take a look at the physical properties of mold powder.
 Protective Slag
1. Chemical Composition: Protective slag for die casting is generally composed of three materials: a base material, an auxiliary material, and a melting rate regulator. They all have quantitative proportions, and they are prepared according to special proportions for special requirements.
2. Melting Temperature: The finished mineral slag powder is made into a specified sample with a diameter of 3333 mm and heated on a special instrument to a temperature where the edge of the cylinder is hemispherical. The temperature at which the hemispherical point is reached is defined as the melting temperature. Usually, the melting point temperature of continuous casting protective slag is controlled below 1200.
3. Viscosity: Indicates the fluidity of the mineral slag powder melted into a liquid. Viscosity directly affects the speed at which the slag absorbs oxide inclusions and the effect of lubricating the billet. Viscosity measurement is the measurement of the viscosity of the slag at 1300 using a torsion pendulum viscometer or a rotational viscometer to compare the fluidity of different slags.
4. Melting Rate: It measures the fast and slow melting process of mold powder. The melting rate can be expressed by the time required for a standard sample to completely melt or liquefy at a specified temperature.
5. Spreadability: The coverage ability and uniformity of the crystallizer continuous casting protective slag on the steel surface can be measured by the area of a certain volume of continuous casting protective slag flowing from a specified height to a flat plate.

6. Moisture Content: Mold casting protective slag easily absorbs moisture. If the adsorbed water content exceeds the specified limit, it will cause the continuous casting protective slag to agglomerate, affecting the use effect.
