In actual production, Continuous casting flux The quality of the continuous casting flux is closely related to the slag addition operation. The continuous casting production practices of steel mills at home and abroad have proved that even if the selected mold flux is correct, incorrect use will cause quality problems in the casting. When adding flux to the mold, the flux must be evenly distributed on the surface of the molten steel in the mold. When fluctuations, deviations, stoppages, or other failures occur in the molten steel level during casting, corresponding measures must be taken. In the actual operation process, Continuous casting flux the following items should be noted.
1. Slag addition procedure
(1) Prepare slag addition tools: The slag addition tools are as follows:
Slag removal rod: The main function of the slag removal rod is to remove large slag rings in the mold. When bonding, it also has the function of probing the shell to confirm the shell operation. Metal oxygen-burning tubes or wooden strips can be used. For eddy current type level monitoring systems, wooden slag removal rods must be used. For other types of level monitoring systems, oxygen-burning tubes can be used, which are convenient and practical.
Slag removal spoon: Used to hold the removed slag when changing or removing slag in the mold.
Slag pushing rake: Used to add Continuous casting flux to the mold. For eddy current type level monitoring systems, wooden rakes must also be used to avoid interfering with the signal. Slag removal dustpan: Used to hold the removed slag when changing or removing slag in the mold.
(2) Precautions
1. When the mold level fluctuates abnormally, the continuous casting flux should be added after the level stabilizes.
2. The flux must not be directly pushed into the corners of the mold.
3. When removing slag blocks or rings, gently and slowly remove them to prevent the molten steel from entraining slag.
4. When the ladle is opened for casting, the flux must be added after the molten steel surface submerges the submerged nozzle's distributor.
5. If any abnormality is found in the mold flux during casting, such as excessively low consumption, the slag must be changed.
6. Frequent and thin additions of flux are recommended. Ensure that a layer of new flux material is always covering the molten slag layer.
