1. Enter the required starting temperature using the temperature control knob. The set initial operating temperature should be below the melting point of the substance being measured (not exceeding 280℃).
2. Turn on the power. Through the observation window, you can see the light on, the silicone oil is stirred by the motor, indicating that the instrument is on, and the display will show the current oil bath temperature. Then, the instrument system automatically controls the temperature to reach the preset temperature and automatically balances. If you want to modify the preset temperature, you need to re-enter the required preset temperature and click the "Place" button.
3. Preheat the instrument for 20 minutes, and insert the capillary tube containing the substance to be measured through a small hole at the inlet into the oil bath tube (the capillary tube must be carefully inserted and removed, and must not be bent).
4. Select the heating rate according to the needs, press the corresponding button, and the indicator on the upper left will light up, indicating that the instrument has entered a linear heating state. The four-stage linear heating rate buttons can be changed at any time. After heating, the initial melting point range is obtained, and then the measurement is performed precisely.
5. Observe the melting process of the sample in the capillary tube through the observation window. When melting occurs, press the "Melting" button, the melting storage indicator light will light up, indicating that the melting point has been stored. When the melting is complete, press the end melting button, and the number on the display will remain unchanged, which is the end melting value. Note: If a malfunction occurs, the initial and melt readings cannot be modified, and the measurement must be repeated.
6. To read the initial melting point, press the initial melting point reading button, and the number on the display is the initial melting point value. After a few seconds, the number on the display will switch to the end melting point value.
7. Carefully remove the measured capillary tube.
8. If you want to repeat the measurement of the same sample, press the "Insert" button, and the instrument will automatically enter the initial temperature setting. After balancing, repeat steps 3-7.
9. If you want to measure the melting point of other substances, you can re-enter a new starting temperature through the starting temperature dial, and then repeat steps 3-7 by pressing the "Place" button.
10. It is usually recommended that users first test low-melting-point substances and then test high-melting-point substances.

Preventive Measures for Melting Point and Melting Rate Tester
1. The sample must be dried according to the design requirements, crushed in a clean grinder in a dry environment, and the capillary tube should be gently tapped to ensure the sample is firmly packed. The filling height should be the same, and the specific requirements should meet the pharmacopoeia regulations.
2. When inserting and removing the capillary tube, care must be taken to avoid breakage.
3. For different linear heating rates, the results are inconsistent and certain standards need to be specified.
4. Five capillary tubes can be filled with the sample to be tested at one time, and the average of the readings of the middle three is used as the measurement result to eliminate accidental errors caused by capillary tube and sample preparation and filling.
5. Before inserting the capillary tube into the instrument, wipe off the dirt on the outside of the instrument with a soft cloth to prevent the oil bath from becoming dirty.
6. If the oil bath tube needs to be replaced, please follow the method in the pre-use preparation.
