Melting Point and Melting Rate Tester Designed according to the specified melting point detection technology. The instrument uses electronic information technology to achieve internal control of the temperature program, with digital display of initial melting point and final melting point. The circuit uses a linearly calibrated platinum resistance as the detection element, achieving rapid "starting temperature" setting and four selectable linear heating rates. The instrument can use the specified capillary tube as the sample tube, and the melting process of the sample in the capillary tube can be observed and analyzed using a high-power magnifying glass, which is clear and intuitive.

According to the definition of physical chemistry, the melting point of a substance is the temperature at which the substance changes from a solid to a liquid state. In the field of organic chemistry research, melting point determination is a basic technical means for identifying the cultural properties of substances, and it is also one of the important methods for purity determination. Therefore, melting point instruments play an important role in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, and are indispensable instruments for the production of organic crystalline substances such as pharmaceuticals, fragrances, and dyes.

Operation of the Melting Point and Melting Rate Tester

  1. Preparation before use

Place the heating container (beaker) containing the heat transfer solution on the heating furnace of the melting point and melting rate tester. Insert the thermometer for the required material melting point into the thermometer fixing hole, so that the bottom end of the thermometer bulb is 2.5 cm above the heating surface (heater), and the liquid level of the heat transfer solution is around the inclination line of the thermometer.

  2. Power on

Turn on the power switch and rotate the regulating transformer clockwise to heat the heat transfer liquid. Activate the melt rate meter stirring switch and start stirring the stirrer in the temperature transfer solution.

  3. Measurement operation

When the temperature of the temperature transfer solution rises to 10°C below the specified lower limit of the melting point, rotate the regulating transformer to increase the heating rate by 1.0~1.5°C per minute (for samples that melt and decompose simultaneously). The heating rate is 2.5~3.0°C per minute. Cool after reaching the expected total melting temperature. Repeat this operation 2 to 3 times to master the heating rate. Adjust the height of the thermometer so that the wetting line is just at the liquid level during the entire melting process.

  4. After the test is completed, turn off the power, rotate the regulator clockwise to the 0 mark, remove the thermometer, wipe it dry with filter paper, put it away, and fill in the usage registration form.
