Melting Point and Melting Rate Tester Can be used as a substitute for silicone oil melting point instruments in the pharmaceutical industry: The melting point and melting rate tester has limitations on samples; colored samples after melting are unsuitable; the melting point and melting rate tester can only effectively measure melting and provide a reference for the initial melting results; the method specified in the pharmacopoeia is the silicone oil method. The fully automatic melting point detector has the advantages of high automation and high detection efficiency.
I. Characteristics of the Melting Point and Melting Rate Tester:
1. Integrated design, compact machine, simple transportation and placement.
2. The color touch screen makes operation more convenient, and the sample change curve can be observed in real time.
3. It can be connected to a computer, and the results are easy to store and retrieve; usually, it is linear temperature rise to meet various temperature rise options, including three separate temperature control detection systems, which can simultaneously measure three samples with different melting points. The cooling speed is less than 7.5 minutes, and the sample testing speed is fast.
II. Precautions for Using the Melting Point and Melting Rate Tester:
1. Dry the sample in advance and grind it into powder with a mortar. The capillary tube must be filled firmly to a height of 3mm. When the capillary tube is connected to the instrument, the contaminants on the outer surface of the capillary tube must be cleaned to prevent the instrument from being contaminated, which may lead to detection failure. If the capillary tube cracks or breaks during the test, the power should be immediately turned off and removed.
2. In the sample test, the height of the same batch number should be consistent to ensure the consistency of the test results; 5 pieces are filled in the same batch, the maximum and minimum values are removed after the determination, and the median value is averaged to reduce experimental errors.
3. The test temperature should not exceed the operating temperature range of the instrument (<300℃). The measurement results are inconsistent with different linear heating rates. Certain specifications need to be formulated. The linear heating rate should be 1℃/min, and the initial temperature should be 3℃~5℃ lower than the melting point; the linear heating rate is 3℃/min, and the initial temperature should be 9℃~15℃ lower than the melting point. Usually, good test conditions should be determined through experiments. After measuring samples with higher melting points, measure samples with lower melting points, and directly input the initial lower melting point temperature for automatic cooling of the instrument. If there is a reference sample, the reference sample can be measured first, and a certain initial temperature and heating rate can be selected for comparative measurement according to the requirements. The initial melting point reading of the reference sample is used as the basis for evaluation. Using the melting point standard as the unit of the temperature transfer standard, the results can be corrected according to the readings of adjacent standards.
III. Testing Steps of the Melting Point and Melting Rate Tester:
1. Turn on the air switch and connect the equipment power.
2. Prepare a test sample and place it on the sample gasket.
3. Turn the potentiometer on the melting point and melting rate tester to the lower position, press the start button, and then turn the manual/automatic knob to the automatic position.
4. Turn on the computer, start the software, and follow the instructions to perform the test.
5. After the test is completed, the equipment will automatically stop, and the stop button of the equipment will light up. Turn the potentiometer on the equipment to the lower position, and turn the manual/automatic knob to the manual position.
6. Cover the dust cover of the camera.
7. Turn off the computer and printer.
8. Disconnect the air switch; the test is now complete.
