According to the definition of physical chemistry, the melting point of a substance is the temperature at which the substance changes from a solid to a liquid. In the field of organic chemistry, melting point measurement is a basic means of identifying the properties of a substance and is also an important method for purity testing. Therefore, Melting Point and Melting Rate Tester It plays an important role in the chemical industry and medical research, and is indispensable in the production of drugs, spices, dyes and other organic crystalline substances.
I. The operating steps of the melting point and melting rate tester are as follows:
1. Preparation before use
Place the heating container filled with the temperature transfer solution on the heating furnace of the melting point and melting rate tester, insert the thermometer with the required melting point into the fixed hole of the thermometer, so that the bottom of the thermometer bulb is more than 2.5 cm above the heating surface, and the liquid level of the temperature transfer solution is approximately at the immersion line of the thermometer.
2. Startup
Turn off the power switch, turn the voltage regulator clockwise, and heat the temperature transfer liquid. Turn on the "stirring" switch of the melting point and melting rate tester to start stirring the stirrer in the temperature transfer solution.
3. Measurement operation
When the temperature of the temperature transfer solution rises to 10℃ below the lower limit of the specified melting point, turn the voltage regulator to increase the temperature rise rate by 1.0~1.5℃ per minute (for samples that melt and decompose simultaneously, the temperature rise rate is 2.5~3.0℃ per minute), and the temperature decreases after reaching the predicted total melting temperature. Repeat 2-3 times to master the heating rate. Adjust the height of the thermometer so that the wetting line during the entire melting process is just at the liquid level.
When the temperature of the temperature transfer solution rises to 10℃ below the specified melting point limit of the sample to be tested, immerse the capillary tube containing the sample in the temperature transfer solution and stick it to the thermometer. The content of the capillary tube should be appropriately in the middle of the mercury bulb, and the pressure regulator should be adjusted to achieve the specified heating rate to measure the melting point of the sample.
4. After the test is completed, turn off the power supply and rotate the voltage regulator clockwise to the 0 mark. Remove the thermometer, wipe it dry with filter paper, put it away, and fill out the usage registration form.
II. On-site requirements for installing the melting point and melting rate tester:
1. The laboratory floor is flat, dust-free, vibration-free, corrosion-free, has a strong magnetic field, and is well-ventilated.
2. Ambient temperature: 10℃~40℃.
3. Relative humidity: 10~85.
4. Power supply: one hot wire (220V) and one neutral wire.
5. Air switch: 220V, 30A.
III. Precautions for the melting point and melting rate tester:
1. The equipment should be placed on a stable platform to avoid vibration.
2. The computer system is a dedicated device for the tester and should not be used for other purposes or install other application software. Otherwise, the test system will fail.
3. The camera lens should not be directly pointed at strong light to avoid damaging the camera.
4. During the test, do not cover the lens with your hands or other objects to avoid test failure.
5. Equipped with a good grounding wire with grounding resistance ≤ 4ω.
6. The furnace body and control cabinet shell should be reliably grounded.
